Gardening Hack #7 – Start Your Seeds in Toilet Paper Rolls
Continuing our trend of upcycling household waste to help the planet, let’s look at a way you can avoid buying those peat pots from the local garden center this spring.
If you are looking for a way to recycle your toilet paper rolls, they can be a great way for you to start a small garden. Toilet paper tubes can help you keep your small plants intact.
Cut each tube in half with sharp scissors and fill the tubes with a good seed starting mix before placing them in a small plastic container. You can start your seeds indoors like this and if you also save your paper towel rolls up, you might get 3-4 seedling containers out of each one.
Then, once they are ready to sprout, saturate the cardboard toilet paper roll and move them to the garden. The water will help the toilet paper roll break down.
